Radiologists- Vascular & Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiology
is a subspecialty of radiology in which minimally invasive procedures
are performed using image guidance. Some procedures are diagnostic
(e.g. angiogram) while others are for treatment purposes (e.g.
angioplasty). CT, Ultrasound or fluoroscopy may be used to provide road
a map that allows the radiologist to guide needles or other devices,
such as catheters (thin plastic tubes), through the body to the areas
of interest/concern.
